Amphibole

Welcome!

Welcome to Smorf's website!
Smorf is a crystal drawing program. You can see a lot of crystals we created with Smorf on this site. The crystals are displayed in a Java applet. Click here to view the crystals or click the "Crystals" menu on the left.
You can choose a small, medium or large sized applet.

The Smorf applet is in use on two other websites:
On Mindat.org you can see the crystals on the mineral pages.

On the 'Mineralienatlas' you can find our crystals in the mineral descriptions.

About Smorf

Smorf is the name of a crystal drawing program, made by my brother Luc and me.
The current version of Smorf draws single crystals and twins (in fact any oriented and non-oriented intergrowth of two ore more crystals). It has an integrated raytracer and folding model generator, and a database with more than 600 crystals.
A couple of years we stopped working on Smorf.

Credits

Most of the crystals are based on drawings in the "Atlas der Krystallformen" by V.M. Goldschmidt, a monumental work with more than 20.000 crystal drawings. It was published between 1913 and 1923.

The design of these pages is based on the 'Pretension!' web design template by krsna77, see http://www.oswd.org
